Green Flash Is Set To Reopen On Captiva
There is more great news in regards to Hurricane Ian recovery on Southwest Florida barrier islands The Green Flash is set to reopen on Captiva nearly one year after the storm hit. The restaurant announced its reopening for Sunday, September 23rd. When you cross onto to Captiva from Sanibel, it is mostly residential. The Green Flash sits at the big bend in the road between Tween Water’s Resort and Captiva Island Inn.
The restaurant is on stilts and has a great view of the usually calm waters of Pine Island Sound. It is so Southwest Florida. It’s accessible by both car and boat. They also have an upstairs event space that is perfect for weddings and receptions. I attended one years ago and it was gorgeous. The Green Flash and many other restaurants and businesses have been working feverishly in time to reopen for the island’s annual Island Hopper Songwriter Festival. It’s a ten day festival that kicks off every year on Captiva.

The above update was posted on Instagram back in May. Looks like the projected timeline for reopening has been right on target.
Fans are stoked that the Green Flash is set to Reopen on Captiva Island in a little more than a week. If you are thinking about going opening weekend, here is another little perk. Officials have been waving the tolls to the island on Sundays. However, Sunday the 24th is the last day to take advantage of the free passage. No toll, newly remodeled Green Flash, sounds like a Sunday Funday for sure.
*A side note: It might be a good idea to make a reservation. The song writing festival typically draws a good sized crowd. However, one thing we’ve learned since Hurricane Ian, the word “typical” has become a bit relative.
