If there was one food I couldn’t ever give up it would be pizza. Being from Chicago, I feel like I was born with a love of pizza in my blood. Of course, I love a good thin crust. My favorite is the sausage, onion, mushroom and green pepper combo. But I’ll take a deep dish any day. Give me that good buttery crust, throw on some sausage and pepperoni and I’m in heaven. And now, I’m also hungry. But my love for pizza doesn’t end at Chicago style. I like it all. I’ve found some great places for pizza in Southwest Florida. I haven’t tried them all, but Chicago Pizza in Cape Coral, Uncle Rico’s in Fort Myers and Rosati’s seem to be my go-to’s. It does look like though, that I have plenty of more places to put on my list.

Yelp just put out their list of the Top 100 Pizza Spots in America. They found that, according to Yelp Elites, that Detroit-style pizza has been trending upwards with a year-after-year increase in searches. Chicago-style pizza is too and is home to the #1 spot on their list: Pequod’s Pizzeria. 1. Dixie Fish Company
I can’t believe we almost lost this place. The Dixie Fish Company on Fort Myers Beach was almost wrecked by Hurricane Ian. There was a boat on their front steps. Seriously.
Thankfully, they were able to put everything back together, and according to Tripadvisor it’s the number one spot for fresh local seafood in Southwest Florida. It’s an open air bar/restaurant and has everything you could possibly want from a waterfront restaurant on an island. It’s an absolute must for anyone visiting the Fort Myers area. Us locals love it, too. This is true original Southwest Florida.
