Florida Man’s Utility Bill Rage Results in Attempted Murder Charge
My utility bill is like any relationship. There are ups and there are downs. Sometimes it’s higher, sometimes lower. In my house in Cape Coral, there’s no “power police.” I do make an effort to flick off the lights at bedtime, but if someone, even myself, forgets, it’s no biggie. No one’s fighting it out in the octagon over a few extra watts. That’s crazy. I guess someone should have told that to 76-year-old Dennis McCabe.
According to WFLA, the Florida man is currently locked up in jail after getting into an argument over a utility bill of all things. Oh, and we’re fight that turned VERY violent. Just how bad did it get? The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office says that McCabe allegedly attacked the woman, resulting in her sustaining some pretty nasty injuries. Everywhere from her face, to her head, and to her torso. This poor woman was covered in blood.
After the bloody fight, Dennis called 911 to seek help for the victim, who, by the way, lay in critical condition when assistance finally arrived at the scene. The situation was so dire that emergency services airlifted the woman to the hospital, where she remains currently.
The police took McCabe into custody, charging him with attempted felony murder in connection with the assault. Sounds pretty serious. Sad really. It bothers me to hear about domestic abuse like this. I just can’t wrap my head around how someone could hurt someone they’re supposed to care about, especially over something as meaningless as a utility bill. We all expect bills. But we don’t expect someone close to us to try to kill us over them.
