Your Old VHS Tapes Could Be Worth A Lot Of Money
Back in the day, we all had quite a collection of VHS tapes, and if you still have them sitting around, some may be worth a lot of money.
In this day and age, thinking back to the days of VHS tapes, it seems like an eternity ago. Moving from Chicago, to North Dakota and here to Fort Myers, I have long been distanced from mine. But it’s so funny to remember how it was back in the day. We had a special cabinet in the living room where would stack those tapes high in those bulky boxes. I remember the coolest thing was the machine that would rewind the tapes for you. Because when you put one on and it was at the end, it was SUCH an inconvenience. I’m sure my parents have gotten rid of most of the VHS tapes we had when I was a kid. But I’m hoping they may still have a few sitting around, because there could be some big money there.
Your Old VHS Tapes Could Be Worth A Lot Of Money
When it comes to Disney, a lot of memorabilia from the past could be worth something today. And that’s no exception for Disney VHS tapes. Now, not ALL Disney VHS tapes are worth something today. But, according to thegamer.com, if you have any from the “Black Diamond Collection”, you could be sitting on a gold mine. These specific tapes were released between 1984 and 1994 and you’d see the diamond on the either the spine of the case or printed on the VHS itself. I’m looking at one at eBay right now selling for $20,820! And another, sealed. selling for $35,000! Now of course, the tapes are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them, but you can see here what people are willing to pay. But at this point, if they’ve been sitting on a shelf for all these years, getting something is better than nothing.
The movies to look for include:
- Robin Hood
- Pinocchio
- Dumbo
- Sword in the Stone
- Alice in Wonderland
- Sleeping Beauty
- Lady and the Tramp
- Cinderella
- Bambi
- The Little Mermaid
- Peter Pan
- The Jungle Book
- The Rescuers Down Under
- Fantasia
- 101 Dalmations
- The Great Mouse Detective
- The Rescuers
- Beauty and the Beast

I had ALL of these! But sadly, they’ve been long gone. I may have to start scouring the thrift stores to see if I can find any.
