It’s been two weeks since Hurricane Idalia brushed by the Southwest Florida coast. While damage to Collier, Lee and Charlotte Counties was not the likes of Hurricane Ian, there was still damage and some people are still in need. There is a hotline to call for help if you live or have a business in Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte and surrounding areas. However, it wont be open much longer. The storm came ashore in the Big Bend area of Florida as a powerful category four hurricane. On the way, it caused a lot of flooding in Southwest Florida as well. There were power outages and numerous beaches were closed again for repairs.

If you call this hotline and ask for help, these services are free. However, County officials warn that service is not guaranteed. There is an overwhelming need still. In addition, the hotline is only open two more days. That is today and tomorrow. The hotline is scheduled to shut down Friday, September 15th. Don’t wait.
