Hidden Gem: Naples Botanical Garden
Visiting gardens is one of my favorite things to do wherever I go, and this weekend I took myself to the Naples Botanical Garden.
Now, I know a lot of people are aware of this garden. But I call it a “hidden gem” because I don’t know too many people who have ever gone. And actually, I sometimes forget about it myself. It’s set back off I-75 about 10 miles. When you enter the garden, you’re transported to a zen oasis of beauty.
Through September 30, for SWFL residents, admission is half off
When I heard about the local summer discount, I knew I had to take advantage of it. But the reason I decided to go yesterday in particular, was because it was the final day of Frida and her Garden. I’ve always been intrigued by Frida Kahlo’s story and her art. This exhibit was so beautiful, transporting you to her garden at her home in Coyoacán, Mexico City. Likewise, throughout the garden were animals painted with folk art representing Frida Kahlo’s work.

If you’re into photography, looking for a place to unwind or get some exercise, the Naples Botanical Garden is a great place for all of that.
There are many different areas to explore from the Brazilian Garden, Caribbean Garden, Succulent Garden, Orchid Garden and Asian Garden just to name a few. And to check out some art and get in the AC for a bit, there’s usually an art exhibit in Kapnick Hall.
