Mega Millions® Hits One Billion Dollars
The jackpot for Mega Millions hits one billion dollars for the third time in it’s twenty year history. Yes, $1 BILLION Dollars (said in Dr. Evil’s voice).
The most I have ever won is $100 on a scratch off! And, of course I went back to the store and traded the ticket in for more scratch off tickets. And repeated the process until I was once again left with nothing. But, enough about me.
Surprisingly, not one ticket matched Tuesday’s (July 26) drawing! Not one! The white balls were 7, 29, 60, 63 and 66, plus the gold Mega Ball was 15. Now the estimated jackpot for Friday, July 29 sits at the insane amount $1.025 billion ($602.5 million cash).
According to Mega Millions, Friday’s drawing will be the thirtieth in this jackpot run. The current run began on April 19, after the previous jackpot was won in Tennessee on April 15.
Subsequently, the estimated prize will be just shy of $1.05 billion jackpot, won in Michigan in January of 2021. The record jackpot sits at $1.537 billion, won in South Carolina back in 2018 and is the world’s largest lottery payout from a single ticket.
Nevertheless, in the 29 drawings since the jackpot was last won, there have been more than 28.million winning tickets at all prize levels. Specifically, 42 tickets worth $1 million or more. Those big prizes have been won in 17 states across the country including Florida.
Can you even imagine winning that much cash? Would you still work?
