Family Attorney Confirms Brian Laundrie Died of Suicide
Brian Laundrie took his own life with a gunshot wound to the head, family attorney Steven Bertolino said on Tuesday.
The news comes one month after Laundrie’s remains were found at Florida Preserve. The initial autopsy on his remains, which were described as “bones” by North Port police, did not reveal a cause of death and were inconclusive.
“Chris and Robert are still mourning the loss of their son and are hopeful that these findings bring closure to both families,” he said.
Laundrie was the only person of interest following the disappearance of 22-year-old Gabby Petito, his fiancée, during their cross-country trip.
The missing person case sparked a nationwide search and ended with authorities finding her remains at a Wyoming national park on Sept. 19. It was determined Petito died by strangulation.
