FBI Confirms Human Remains Found in Reserve Belong to Brian Laundrie
The human remains found at the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park are those of Brian Laundrie who has been missing for over a month, the FBI said on Thursday afternoon, according to CNN News.
The FBI said dental records confirmed the identification.
Partial human remains were found Wednesday afternoon on a trail Laundrie frequented in the park, officials said. A backpack and the remains were found in a location that was previously under water.
Laundrie’s parents took FBI agents and North Port police to the location where “some articles belonging to Brian were found,” according to a statement by Laundrie attorney Steven Bertolino.
Laundrie was considered a person of interest in the disappearance of his fiancée Gabby Petito. Her body was discovered on Sept. 19 in Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming, and her death was ruled a homicide by “manual strangulation.”
Cause of death has not been confirmed at this time.
