Lee County Declares Local State Of Emergency
Lee County commissioners declared a local state of emergency Tuesday morning in an effort to help the spread of COVID-19, according to NBC2.
The declaration of emergency can make funds available for the county, officials reported.
Commissioners also decided that libraries in Lee County will close by end of day on Tuesday, March 17, NBC2 reported. All parks and recreation centers including dog parks will also close.
Lee Transit, beaches and solid waste facilities will remain open at this time. County administration and attorneys will stay open while employees practice social distancing.
The commission is scheduled to hold its next meeting in three weeks.

Collier County also declared a local state of emergency on Monday, March 16 to take further steps against the coronavirus.
