Virus Transforms NYC into Ghost Town Clearly, New Yorkers have taken to heart Governor Andrew Cuomo’s advice to stay home.
The usually-bustling city of 8.6 million people looked was all but abandoned Friday.
Times Square had almost no people in it, subway trains ran with little or no passengers and hundreds of cab drivers ended their shifts early because they weren’t getting any fares, sources say.
Where was everybody? At New York’s grocery stores, apparently.
NBC is reporting lines comprising “hundreds” of people outside the city’s supermarkets, hoping to stock up on essential supplies in case they’re quarantined.
