Every time I buy something new, I try to discard something old. However, it doesn’t always work that way. And sometimes the old still has life in it but I just don’t know what to do with it. That’s when I turn to the internet for ideas. Earth Day is Monday, April 22nd. Much attention is placed on how to be better stewards of the earth and how to be more kind to the planet.

Old fabric is always great material for upcycling. You can affix it to almost anything to create a new look and reduce waste.

Ways to upcycle for Earth Day

Reducing waste is one of those things. So, if you could take something in your home that you would normally toss, and make something cool with it, why not? This is called upcycling.

There are people who have a great eye and lots of talent for doing this. I am not one. However, I like to check these people out on social media in hopes of being inspired by their ingenuity. Most of the time I just dream of replicating. Every now and then I give it a try and want to give the lamp shade idea below a try.
