With Halloween just days away, you might be getting your fill of themed movies and shows, but maybe you’re looking for some that don’t give you nightmares, so here’s a list that BuzzFeed compiled of the best non-scary Halloween movies.

A buddy of mine and his 10 year-old daughter (who is way braver than me) have been watching the scariest movies out there lately like “The Conjuring” series, “Terrifier” and “The Exorcist”. I, myself, am more a fan of the psychological thrillers than the straight up horror, but I do like to embrace the season and get my fix before Spooky Season wraps up.

But let’s face it, blood, guts and gore isn’t for everyone. There was a YouGov poll this week that found that of all movie genres, horror movies are the most divisive. 25% love them, 24% likes them, 23% hates them and 22% dislikes them. No only genre of movie was that evenly split.

Also interesting in that poll was the time of day that fans and non-fans prefer to watch horror movies. Shockingly, it found that people who dislike horror movies are more likely to want to watch them at NIGHT.  While fans of scary movies prefer to watch them during the DAY. It may not have anything to do with people being too scared to watch them at night, but rather just needing to be in the mood. While horror movie fans will watch them ANY time of day.

The Best “Non-Scary” Halloween Movies According to BuzzFeed:

  • "Beetlejuice"

It was great in 1988 and still holds up in 2022

  • "Edward Scissorhands"

Look at that, 2 Tim Burton movies in a row!

  • "Practical Magic"

Can Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman playing witches get any better?

  • "Super 8"

It’s like “Stranger Things” meets “E.T.”

  • "Death Becomes Her"

Great cast! Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn and Bruce Willis

  • "Stardust"

Michelle Pfeiffer plays the head witch in charge. Robert De Niro, Claire Danes and Henry Cavill are in the flick too!

  • "The Craft"

Not necessarily scary, but it is rated R, so be careful if you have kids

  • "Casper"

    Always loved this one!

  • "Coraline"

For a claymation movie that’s rated PG, it’s a little scary, but you’ll be alright

  • "What We Do in the Shadows"

Some would argue the TV show version is even better, but this is a solid pick

  • "Twilight"

There’s 5 of them, so they’ll keep you busy

  • "The Witches"

The original came out in 1990 and a remake was done in 2020 starring Anne Hathaway

  • "Labyrinth"

David Bowie and those creatures give me the creeps..but for some I guess it’s ok?

  • "Signs"

    It’s suspenseful, but not scary

  • "Little Shop of Horrors"

Such a fun movie with Rick Moranis and Steve Martin

  • "Hocus Pocus"

This one didn’t make the list, but it should

  • "A Nightmare Before Christmas"

The big argument: is this a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie?
