Fort Myers Weekend Festival Draws Thousands to Downtown Waterfront
The Fort Myers Seafood and Music Festival brought huge crowds to Centennial Park this past weekend.
Guards checked bags at entrance points while blocked-off streets kept the festival area safe. These safety steps were put in place after concerning events at a similar New Orleans festival.
“We had to take additional precautions this year for public safety, “ event director Bill Kinney told Fox 4 Now. “We blocked off the streets, we have soft bag checks as people are coming in.”
Fresh Gulf seafood cooked at food stands as music played throughout the park. The main stage came alive with a blend of R&B, smooth jazz, classic rock, and island reggae sounds.
This winter event has become one of the city’s biggest attractions.
Paragon Festivals teamed up with the River District Alliance to create this free event. Market booths along the water were full of handmade items, while local artists showed their pieces among the food stands.
