Chicago Pizza Reigns Supreme In Cape Coral
As a girl born and raised in the Windy City, I’m always on the hunt for the best when it comes to Chicago-style cuisine and Chicago Pizza reigns supreme in Cape Coral.
As much as I love living in Florida, I have to admit that sometimes I really miss the legendary food Chicago has to offer. I’m talking hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, both thin crust and deep dish pizza, tamales, popcorn, pizza puffs and more. There was nothing like stopping into Gene & Jude’s or the Superdawg drive-in for a late-night dog after a night out on the town. I have found some solid places here in the Sunshine State to enjoy the foods I’ve grown up with.

Portillo’s is a regular stop when I’m in Tampa and Orlando and Tony’s Chicago Beef Company in Sarasota is solid too. Sonic does have Chicago-style hot dogs on their menu that does hit the spot when the craving hits, but there’s one spot that I’ve found serves up the best of the best in Southwest Florida. And that place is Chicago Pizza in Cape Coral.
When you walk in, you’re greeted with the smell of Chicago pizza. I don’t know how to explain it, but it smells like heaven. If you know, you know. And the pizza tastes even better. I’ve had both the deep dish and the thin crust there, but the thin crust is the creme de la creme. My family and I always get the Chicago with sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions & peppers. And a pro tip: dine-in on Tuesday for half-price pizza!
If you want to start your meal with an app, I’ve tried a good amount of what they have on the menu with the fried mushrooms and the tamale boat being my favorites. They also have a great antipasti plate I can’t skip on any visit to Chicago Pizza. It’s definitely sharable and loaded with fresh mozzarella, salami, pepperoni, artichokes, hearts of palm, olives and more.
If you’re not in the mood for pizza, but are looking for another Chicago favorite, the beef sandwich I totally recommend. My favorite way to order it is with plenty of juice and giardiniera on top.
