Homemade Roasted Thanksgiving Day Turkey with all the Sides

Thanksgiving is a time to be present with your family and loved ones. This day allows everyone to just take a day to watch the parade, cook together, and being able to catch up with one another. Cooking is a huge staple of this holiday and usually takes a good amount of preparation. This preparation starts at figuring out your menu for the big day. Let’s focus on the top ten Thanksgiving sides.

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, it is time to start thinking about how the menu will look this year. While this holiday has no set rules of what you make or bring to Thanksgiving- there are unspoken dishes that are always essentials. These sides like green bean casserole or crescent rolls almost automatically make you think of Thanksgiving.

While these unspoken dishes are essential to have on the menu- do we all have the same staple side dishes? Ranker conducted a poll of Florida’s top ten Thanksgiving sides to see if Floridan’s are all on the same page about the line up.

The lineup for side dishes should be taken very seriously because what is a good meal without them? I know that in my family, your side dishes need to be just as good as the main event- the turkey.

Taking a look at this list, I can see that we all agree on the dishes that need to be on the table. The ranking of these dishes might be up for discussion though. You can take a look to see if you agree with the rankings below.

  • 10. Crescent Rolls

These flaky, buttery, warm rolls always are perfect to have on the table for Thanksgiving. Who doesn’t love them? A big plus to this dish is that it is one of the quickest and convenient things you will make.

  • 9. Baked Sweet Potatoes

This dish has just the perfect amount of sweetness to add onto your plate. Personally I would rank this side dish higher, probably even in my top three. My mother makes the best sweet potatoes that makes you want to just get another one.

  • 8. Green Beans

While this side dish is a staple in almost every house hold, every family has their own spin on green beans. Some add bacon to the dish while some keep it plain and simple. No matter how your family prepares the green beans, it will always be a crowd favorite!

  • 7. Corn on the Cob

Another staple to have on you table for Thanksgiving.  While it might be one of the hardest dishes to eat from the list of sides, it is one of the tastiest as well! I would rank this in my top three as well.

  • 6. Green Bean Casserole

This dish is a favorite for many households, including mine as well. My family takes the casseroles very serious for Thanksgiving and it is always gone within the hour. Personally, I never have liked green bean casserole and I would say it is one of the most overhyped sides for Thanksgiving.

  • 5. Macaroni and Cheese

The best dish that one can make or bring on Thanksgiving. I am always on macaroni duty for my Friendsgiving’s because this is my favorite dish ever. I can not imagine a world that does not have this dish. Its perfect.

  • 4. Gravy

Gravy done right- salty, a little sweet, with the perfect amount of balanced spices. While growing up in Oklahoma, I have learned that people do not play about their gravy! I understand why it is so high up in the rankings.

  • 3. Bread

Taking the third spot is bread. While I found it odd due to my family never just serving bread on Thanksgiving, I can see why other families do. If cornbread is classified in this category then I am very supportive of the rankings. Cornbread is superior and a essential on the table.

  • 2. Mashed Potatoes

Another top three for me and Florida is in agreeance as well! This side is always needed at Thanksgiving and goes perfectly with any main entree that your family chooses.
