Meet Tranquilino Mendez Alvarez, the man who just became a millionaire playing the “$1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE SPECTACULAR scratch-off game.” Man… I wish it was me!

Cape Coral is my own little “Scratchtopia,” where I’ve honed my scratching skills . I’ve bought so many scratch-off tickets that I’m starting to think I deserve a commemorative plaque at the local convenience store. Now my dreams of being a millionaire haven’t quite materialized, I’m sure that one day, I’ll strike gold beneath that silver foil. Until then, let’s live though Tranquilino Mendez Alvarez.

Tranquilino, who sounds like a character straight out of a telenovela, bought his winning ticket at a 7-Eleven store in Lake Worth, Florida. Apparently, that’s where dreams come true nowadays. And guess what? The store gets a little taste of the action too – they’re walking away with a cool $2,000 for selling the winning ticket. Not bad for just handing over a piece of paper with a bunch of numbers on it.

Millionaire Man:

Now, here’s the twist that would make even M. Night Shyamalan jealous… instead of opting for the annual million-dollar payouts for life, Tranquilino decided to take the lump-sum payment of $640,000. That’s some instant gratification! Who needs a lifetime supply of money when you can have a big ol’ bag of cash right now?

The $50 scratch-off game, known as the “$1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE SPECTACULAR,” was launched in February, and it’s got not one but two top prizes of $1 million a year for life. That’s enough money for me to never have to work another day in my life.

So congrats to Tranquilino Mendez Alvarez. The man with a name as spectacular as his win. My guy is now living the good life with his $640,000 lump sum. The lesson here? Sometimes, it pays to skip the drama and go straight for the cold, hard cash. May your fortune be as spectacular as your scratch-off game.

It’s January and the Mega Millions jackpot has now surpassed a billion dollars. Clearly, there’s two different ways to play the numbers. You can let the computer pick for you, or you can get that card and pick them yourself. If you’re the latter, what system do you choose? Kids birthdays, anniversaries, and dates like that are common. I use math. Before we continue, in full disclosure, I’ve picked numbers using this system and have not won anything. I only play when the jackpot gets big and using this system I got nothing right on the 7/26/2022 drawing. But what if?

We’ll also look at which Mega Ball pops up the most. Gotta get both right if you’re going to win that money. I’m not saying these will be the numbers that will make you win. Just saying, these numbers tend to come up more. #science
